Hi there, it's Nevrie, the co-founder of WonderForm.

In this article, I’ll show you how to populate your tree with questions and how to configure each field to capture exactly the data you need.

Our builder is designed to give you total control over the "What" and "How" of your data collection. Let's dive in!

1. Login

To start, you'll need to login to your WonderForm account. You can do so by clicking on the following link: Login.

2. Access the Schema Builder

Navigate to the form you are working on and enter the Schema Builder. This is the visual workspace where your tree lives.

3. Adding a Field

To add a new question to your tree, you can click the (+) icon on any existing node to branch out a new question.

WonderForm supports a wide variety of field types to suit any use case:

  • Text & Contact: Short Text, Long Text, Email, Phone Number, Website URL.
  • Ratings: Star Rating, Emoji Rating.
  • Numbers & Ranges: Slider Range, Stepper Range.
  • Time & Place: Date, Time, Date & Time, Address, Location in Map.
  • Selection: Single Choice, Multiple Choice.
  • Instructional: Info (for non-question text).

4. Configuring Field Settings

When you click on a node in your tree, a settings panel will open on the right side of your screen. This is where you define the details of that specific question.

Here is a breakdown of the core settings:

  • Question: This is the primary text your participants will see.
  • Additional Context: Use this for hints, instructions, or extra flavor. It supports a rich-text editor for bolding, links, and emojis.
  • Required: Toggle this on if the participant must answer this question to move forward.
  • Context Key: This is a unique identifier used to identify the response in your data (e.g., user_email). It should be unique for every field in your form.
  • Other Settings: Click this dropdown to access advanced options like placeholders or specific validation rules for that field type.

Don't forget to click the Save button at the bottom of the side panel to apply your changes to the node!

5. Managing Nodes

Each node in your tree can be moved around your canvas to keep your architecture organized. If you need to remove a question, simply click the Trash icon located at the top of the node.

That’s all there is to it!

By configuring your fields correctly, you ensure that your data is clean, organized, and easy to analyze later.

Go ahead and start building your perfect schema! 🛠️
